Medical Neurological Disorders

Neurological disorders are a group of medical disorders involving the central nervous system, the peripheral nervous system and the autonomic nervous system. These disorders can be debilitating and cause paralysis. They can also be difficult to treat.
  1. Causes

    • Causes of neurological disorders include genetic abnormalities, brain or nervous system injuries, diabetes and immune system problems.

    Multiple Sclerosis

    • Multiple sclerosis is a neurological disorder that causes the body's immune system to attack the nerve cells of the brain and spinal cord. It can result in disability.

    Cerebral Palsy

    • Cerebral palsy is a group of neurological disorders that disrupt motor skills and cause seizures and paralysis. It is caused by developmental brain injuries to the fetus during pregnancy or soon after birth.

    Alzheimer's disease

    • With Alzheimer's disease, brain cells deteriorate and cause problems with memory, coordination, and reasoning and judgment. As the disease progresses, all memory may be lost.

    Other Disorders

    • Other neurological disorders include headaches, Parkinson's disease, chronic fatigue syndrome, neuropathy and carpal tunnel syndrome.
