What happens after having a petit mal seizure?
Petit mal seizures, also known as absence seizures, are characterized by a temporary loss of consciousness and awareness that usually lasts for only a few seconds. It does not involve convulsive movements. During such episodes, it appears they are simply staring into space. People can recover quickly upon their seizure episode and usually can resume activities once it stops. They usually feel as though nothing strange ever happened. Most persons regain immediate function and continue activity at the exact or very nearly the place or the action at which it was arrested by the attack. This might happen a hundred times a day over periods of weeks (with intermissions or periods of relative freedom), after which all attacks seem to vanish as mysteriously as they began.
