Is tourette syndrome a cognitive disability?

Tourette syndrome (TS) is a neurodevelopmental condition characterized by tics. Tics are involuntary, repetitive movements or vocalizations. TS is not a cognitive disability, but it can be associated with other cognitive difficulties, such as attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), and learning disabilities. These cognitive difficulties can impact a person's ability to learn, work, and socialize. However, with proper treatment and support, people with TS can live full and productive lives.
