How is Brown-Sequard syndrome diagnosed?

Brown-Sequard syndrome is typically diagnosed based on a person's symptoms and a physical examination. The doctor will ask about the person's medical history, including any recent injuries or trauma, and will perform a physical examination to check for:

- Weakness or paralysis on one side of the body

- Loss of sensation on one side of the body

- Difficulty with balance or coordination

- Problems with eye movements

- Difficulty speaking or swallowing

The doctor may also order imaging tests, such as an MRI or CT scan, to get a better look at the spinal cord and rule out other possible causes of the symptoms.
