How to Stop Nervous Tics
Nervous tics can take many forms, and thus can be extremely hard to pin down and treat. Most common tics are "rapid, involuntary, repetitive muscular movements, which usually involving the face or neck area." (See Reference 1) Eye blinks, head tossing and facial grimacing would be examples of common tics. It is estimated that simple tics occur in about 10 percent of the population. Relax. It may sound like a simplistic solution but if you can get rid of the nervousness, then you may be able to get rid of the nervous tic. Learn and apply recognized relaxation techniques such as yoga, deep breathing exercises or meditation. If these methods work then you should feel less nervous and less prone to outbreaks of nervous tics.

Take a course of multivitamins to rectify any deficiencies in your system. Nervous tics can be caused by vitamin and mineral deficiencies, and regularly taking multivitamins could replenish your system and get rid of the nervous tic.

Talk to a psychiatrist about your anxiety, nervous feelings or other emotions. It may seem daunting to visit a psychiatrist, but it is not a sign of illness or madness. They may simply be able to help you come to terms with any feelings which are causing the nervous tics to appear. You may find when you have faced up to the issues, the nervous tic may dissipate.

Visit your doctor if you are on any form of medication. If a nervous tic started to appear when you started a course of medication, then that may be the cause. Discuss your medication and the dosage with your doctor and try to come to some sort of resolution.
