How to Cure Dizziness and Vertigo

Dizziness refers to a general lightheaded state whereas vertigo is the feeling that a room is spinning. Vertigo sufferers occasionally feel nauseated or have trouble walking. Learn ways to ease these symptoms and stop them from coming back. Follow these simplified steps to relieve symptoms.

Instructions

    • 1

Lay down immediately if you are experiencing either vertigo or dizziness. If you commonly experience these symptoms, prevent dizziness and vertigo by rising slowly from your bed or chair. Standing too quickly can cause a blood flow rush to your head and trigger these symptoms.

    • 2

Limit your alcohol consumption or reduce it altogether if you suffer from dizziness and vertigo. Alcohol can make these symptoms significantly worse or be the main cause of vertigo.

    • 3

Eat something. Sometimes blood glucose levels can dip way too low and cause you to feel lightheaded or as if the room is spinning. Prepare ahead of time by packing healthy, high calorie snacks if your lightheadedness is commonly caused by low glucose.

Make an appointment with a physical therapist or doctor to determine the cause of your dizziness, lightheadedness or vertigo. Certain prescription drug medications can cause vertigo or dizziness as a side effect. Your doctor may need to change your dose or prescribe new medication to alleviate these symptoms.
