Foods to Help Relieve Foot Drop
Foot drop is a condition in which your toes drag on the ground when you are walking. This is usually because of a weakness of the dorsi flexor muscles in your foot. There are many causes of foot drop, and there are dietary measures that can help ease foot drop by making your muscles stronger.-
Water Cure
-
The Water Cure recipe is simple. It calls for you to drink at least half your weight in water, in ounces, each day. For example, if you weigh 120 lbs., drink 60 oz. of water each day. For each quart of water you consume, add 1/4 tsp. of salt. Add salt to food liberally, but drink the recommended amount of water. If you drink caffeinated or alcoholic beverages, drink another 10 oz. to 12 oz. of water per 6 oz. of caffeinated or alcoholic beverage consumed. Use only non-refined ocean salt.
Organic Foods
-
Sticking to an organic diet may also help foot drop. Pesticides in food can have negative consequences for the human body. Shop in the organic food section of the local grocery store. Most grocery stores offer organic food in both the produce and meat sections. An organic grains section may also be available, offering cereals and breads.
Vegetable Juices
-
Vegetable juices are great for your health, especially if you tend to eat too much. They're good for satisfying a hungry appetite with relatively few calories, and can be made fresh with a home juicer or bought in a store. Drink up to 20 cups of fresh vegetable juice a day to help with foot drop. Add parsley, celery or carrot sticks to a glass of vegetable juice for a tasty treat. Radishes and cucumber slices are also tasty additions.
Multiple Sclerosis (MS) is a disease in which foot drop is a common and chronic problem. There is a strong nutritional component to treating MS naturally. MS symptoms, including foot drop, may improve drastically with a healthy dietary change, but all dietary changes should be discussed with a doctor.
