Can people be born with obesity?

While genetic factors can predispose individuals to obesity, the condition is generally not something people are born with. Obesity typically arises from a complex interplay of biological, environmental, and lifestyle factors. However, certain genetic disorders such as Prader-Willi syndrome, Bardet-Biedl syndrome, and Alström syndrome can cause early-onset obesity due to abnormalities in energy regulation and appetite control. In such genetic cases, individuals may exhibit accelerated weight gain, increased appetite, and difficulties in controlling their weight.
