Phentermine hydrochloride, also known as black phentermine and phentermine supplement, is a widely used obesity treatment drug. It is also a commonly abused drug.

    • Black phentermine is a white crystal-like material. It is chemically similar to amphetamines. The standard medicinal form is of a capsule or compressed tablet.

    • Generally, black phentermine is used in conjunction with exercise and diet to treat exogenous obesity. Illicit drug producers use chrystaline form phentermine in processing an amphetamine-like street drug of low popularity and high lethality.

    Medicinal Interactions

    • Primary Pulminary Hypertension (PPH) has been known to fatally occur in patients who took phentermine hydrochloride and fenflouramine or dexfenflouramine. Onset of interaction is immediate upon entry into the bloodstream. Heart disease and damage has also been reported in patients who were taking both phentermine hydrochloride and fenflouramine in low doses over long periods of time.

    Warnings

    • Phentermine hydrochloride is known to cause hypertension crisis in patients who were also taking anti-depressants such as Zoloft, Paxil, Prozac and Xanax. Phentermine also causes drowsiness and may impair safe operation of machinery and vehicles.
