Phentermine: Severe Side Effects

Phentermine is a medication that is prescribed by doctors to aid in weight loss. Most of the people who use it are obese, and want the additional help that may come from using a diet aide. Though rare, severe side effects are possible when using Phentermine.

Heart

• Phentermine may cause some people to experience cardiovascular problems, such as arrhythmia, increased heart rate, hypertension, pain in the chest and valve problems. A rise in blood pressure is also possible.

Nervous System

• Some people have had severe side effects in the central nervous system, including feeling restless, being over-stimulated, sleep disturbances, feelings of euphoria, headaches, and even experiencing psychotic mood swings and odd behavior.

Sexual

• Phentermine has been reported to affect some people with severe sexual side effects. Drastic changes in libido, and an inability to achieve orgasm, as well as erectile dysfunction, are possible.

Allergic Reactions

• Some of the most-severe side effects may appear to be an allergic reaction and should be reported to a doctor. Skin rash, hives, breathing problems, itching, trouble breathing or feeling tight in the chest, severe mood swings, swelling, and experiencing tremors are all possible.

Most Severe

• There have been some reported cases of death when using Phentermine. This severe reaction, due to side effects of the heart, nervous system or severe allergic reaction, has been more likely when Phentermine is taken along with another medication or drug, but must be considered as a possible side effect.
