Polar is a company that makes a variety of heart rate monitors. In Spanish, the company is called Cardiaco Polar. These heart monitors are designed to help athletes monitor their heart rates, lose weight and maximize athletic performance. By using a Polar heart rate monitor correctly, you can increase performance and ensure you are exercising correctly.

  1. Setting Up Your Monitor

    • 1

      Remove the wrist unit, transmitter and strap from the box. Press the red start button in the center of the wrist unit.

      Answer the basic settings questions the monitor asks you, using the bottom-right and bottom-left buttons on the side to scroll up and down.

      Wet the electrodes on the back of the strap. Put the strap around your ribcage just below your pectoral muscles, fastening the strap on the side. Attach the transmitter to the strap, so it's centered underneath your breastbone.

      Once the Polar monitor is turned on, you can begin your workout.

      Press the red start button once. Once your heart rate appears in the monitor, press the start button again to begin recording your workout.

      View the screen during your workout to monitor your heart rate, time and calorie count.

      At the end of your workout, view your summary by scrolling with the right side buttons to find the "File" option in the menu. Select the file option to view previous workout summaries of your heart rate and other exercise statistics.
