Is an OD really a doctor?
An OD (Doctor of Optometry) is a licensed healthcare professional who provides primary vision care. ODs are not medical doctors (MDs) but they are considered doctors in the field of optometry. Optometrists are trained to examine the eyes, diagnose and treat vision problems, and prescribe corrective lenses. They can also detect and manage certain eye diseases, such as glaucoma, macular degeneration, and diabetic retinopathy. ODs are regulated by state licensing boards and must meet continuing education requirements to maintain their licenses.OCD - Related Articles
