      Do weight-bearing exercises. Weight-bearing exercises include yoga, jogging and aerobic activities where you walk or run. Swimming and cycling are not considered high impact and don't help build bone density.

      Reduce your consumption of carbonated drinks. This includes soda pop, alcohol and carbonated water. The carbonation causes burping which can irritate your esophagus. When this happens, your body will use calcium to soothe your digestive tract. Your body may leech the calcium from your bones for this purpose.

      Get a prescription from your doctor. There are many drugs available to help improve bone density such as bisphosphonates, selective estrogen receptor modulators and calcitonin. Your doctor will be able to best ascertain which is best for your condition.
