Fosamax D Plus Side Effects
Fosamax Plus D is a combination medication containing both alendronate and cholecalciferol, and is commonly used in the treatment of osteoporosis. This medication improves the mass of a person's bones by slowing bone loss and boosting the absorption of calcium. Augmenting the absorption of calcium in cases of osteoporosis will typically cause the bones to increase in health and strength. As with almost any medication, there is the potential for certain side effects.-
Nausea
-
One of the more common side effects from the use of Fosamax Plus D can involve some level of nausea or upset stomach. This symptom may be mild to severe in nature, depending on how your stomach handles one or more of this medication's ingredients. Usually, the nausea or upset stomach will pass after the body acclimates to this new substance.
Constipation
-
For some people, the use of Fosamax Plus D can cause constipation. You may go through periodic episodes when you are unable to go to the bathroom or have a fairly difficult time passing stool. As with nausea, constipation will typically lessen as the body becomes more and more familiar with alendronate and cholecalciferol.
Bloating
-
Often going hand in hand with constipation, you may begin to suffer from intermittent bouts of bloating and/or gas. This particular symptom can prompt some abdominal pain and discomfort as well as distention within the abdominal region, all of which could lead to some difficulty getting comfortable and even sleeping.
Headache
-
There is also the potential for Fosamax Plus D to elicit the relatively painful side effect of headaches. If you were to suffer from this side effect, it would generally manifest soon after the ingestion of the medication. But as with any other headache, it can be treated with ibuprofen, acetaminophen, aspirin or naproxen.
Fatigue
-
On occasion, Fosamax Plus D may bring about feelings of fatigue, exhaustion or tiredness in the individual. These will be temporary and will usually pass as the day goes on. As you continue to take Fosamax Plus D for osteoporosis, you should notice that this particular side effect will lessen.
