Ultrasound Heat Treatment for Home Use
Home ultrasound heat therapy is a noninvasive pain management technique. This type of treatment is often used for soft tissue injuries and is shown to speed healing and alleviate pain.-
Function
-
Ultrasound heat treatment is given with a soundhead that moves in circles or gentle strokes around the injury. At home, the injured person might do this, or a family member or friend can assist if the area is out of reach. The area is treated for just a few minutes.
Benefits
-
Ultrasound produces high frequency sound waves that reach the injured area. These sound waves create heat. The heat rushes more blood to the area, which brings nutrients to help the repair process. Some of the injuries treated by ultrasound heat therapy include tendinitis and muscle sprains.
Precautions
-
Never use ultrasound therapy around the eyes, ears, ovaries or male or female genitalia. Also avoid using ultrasound therapy in areas with an active infection.
