How to Bike With Posterior Tibula Tendonitis

When athletes perform physical activities improperly they can develop a painful condition known as posterior tibial tendonitis. If you're suffering from this condition, it means that you have an inflamed tibial tendon, a tendon that is located in the back portion of your lower leg. This condition can make it difficult to ride a bike comfortably. Fortunately, you can take steps to ease the pain associated with this form of tendonitis so that you can get back on your bicycle.

Instructions

    • 1

Push against a wall while holding your back leg straight behind you. This stretches out the posterior tibial tendon.

    • 2

Push against a wall while bending your back leg toward the ground. This will work different muscles and help speed the healing process.

    • 3

Stand on a step so that the back edge of your foot is hanging off. Lift yourself up and down. If you do this properly, you should feel the muscles in the back of your calves stretching.

    • 4

Sit in a hard-backed chair and, while keeping your feet on the floor, lift your toes as high in the air as you can.

    • 5

Perform your exercises consistently, and be patient. Posterior tibial tendonitis often takes several months to completely disappear.
