Exercises for RA

Rheumatoid Arthritis is a disease in which the body's immune system attacks your joints. It often starts at your hands and then travels to other joints. There are a few exercises you can do in order to help you with your RA.
  1. Exercises for RA

    • Hold your hand upright and point your wrist, fingers and thumb up. Hold your hand there for five to 10 seconds.

      Hold you hand upright and point your wrist, fingers and thumb up. Bend the base joints of your fingers. The joints are connected to the fingers and the palm. Keep your middle, your end joints and your wrist straight. Hold for five to 10 seconds. Repeat this twice a day on each hand.

      Keep your wrist and the base joints straight, then bend the middle and end joints of your fingers toward your palm. Hold this position, on all 10 fingers, for five seconds. Do this twice a day.

      Bend each finger from the base joint downward using your other hand to move your fingers. Repeat this movement using the second row and third row of fingers. Hold each movement for 10 seconds. Repeat this on all 10 fingers twice a day.

      Put your hand straight and fingers pointed upward, then bend your fingers downward so that they are touching your palm. Do not make a fist. Instead, your fingertips should be touching your hand. Hold this position for five seconds and do this twice a day.

      Hold your hand upright and point your wrist, fingers and thumb up. Make an 'O' shape by touching your index finger with your thumb. Hold this position for five to 20 seconds and repeat this two to 10 times a day.

      Hold you hand upright and point your wrist, fingers and thumb up. With your knuckles pointing straight, slowly spread your fingers as far apart as you can. From here, make a fist. Hold this position for five seconds and repeat it twice a day on each hand.
