1
Rinse the braids with warm water. Stand in the shower and allow water to soak the braids, or ask your stylist to rinse the braids in warm water. This method helps loosen the braids and alleviates pain and discomfort.
-
2
Redo areas that are braided too tight. If pain is localized to a section of the hair or individual braids, ask your stylist to remove the braid, and then loosely re-braid the hair.
-
3
Take a pain reliever. Pain from tight braids can lessen within a few days. Take painkillers, such as ibuprofen or aspirin to help alleviate pain, until the braids loosen.
-
4
Remove the braids. If pain from braids becomes unbearable, and it doesn't respond to these remedies, take the braids out. Tight braids can damage the hair.
