Nausea and Vomiting

Salmonella infections often cause nausea and vomiting. These symptoms may occur from a few hours to two days after contracting the bacteria.
Diarrhea

Diarrhea can be caused by salmonella infections and may result in blood in the stool or constipation. In some cases, diarrhea can lead to dangerous dehydration.
Fever and Chills

Fever and chills often occur as a result of a salmonella infection. If a fever is above 102 degrees F., it may signal typhoid fever. Typhoid fever often involves fevers of 103 degrees F. or higher. Rose spots---raised, pinkish spots that do not itch---on your chest may indicate typhoid fever.
Other Symptoms

A salmonella infection can cause many other symptoms, such as abdominal cramps or pain, headaches and cough.
