According to the Mold-Help organization, molds themselves are not toxic. However, some molds produce metabolites that in turn produce toxins, called mycotoxins. Mycotoxins can cause many bothersome symptoms and can even lead to serious health problems over time.-

Types of dangerous molds include Chaetomium and Stachybotrys. Molds that produce toxins include Aspergillus flavus, Penicillium and molds in the Fusarium family.
Exposure Symptoms

Symptoms of mold toxin exposure may include breathing difficulties, dizziness, easy bruising, memory problems, vision problems, hearing loss and problems with balance.
Complications

According to the Mold-Help organization, exposure to mold toxins can, over time, lead to conditions such as fibromyalgia, multiple sclerosis, chronic bronchitis, lupus, rheumatoid arthritis and cancer.
Geography

Molds grow anywhere both oxygen and moisture are present. Indoor molds are most likely found in refrigerators, garbage cans, inside walls, under flooring, bathrooms, closets and basements. Outdoor mold are most found in fallen leaf piles, rotten logs and in gardens.
Identification

Indoor home air can be tested for mold spores if you suspect dangerous molds may be present.
