What is niproxin?
Naproxen (brand name: Naprosyn, Aleve) is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID). It is generally used to relieve mild-to-moderate pain and inflammation, including migraines and menstrual pain. Naproxen can also be used in arthritis and other rheumatic conditions. Like other NSAIDs, it works by blocking an enzyme in the body called cyclooxygenase (COX), which is involved in the production of inflammation-causing prostaglandins. Naproxen is considered to be a relatively fast-acting NSAID with similar efficacy to ibuprofen, and has both analgesic (pain-relieving) and antipyretic (fever-reducing) properties. It is available in different formulations, including tablets, capsules, and topical gels or creams for application to the skin.
