Sun Poison Symptoms

Exposure of your skin in the sun can lead to a sunburn, or worse--sun poisoning. Sun poisoning is an allergic reaction called polymorphous light eruption, that occurs when the skin is overexposed to UV light, according to the McKinley Health Center in Illinois. Light-skinned people are more susceptible to this condition, although anyone who is overly exposed to the sun can experience sun poisoning.
  1. Red Skin

    • The most common and first sign of sun poisoning is when your skin turns red. Your skin may also form a rash or develop small blisters.

    Fever

    • Fever may occur. Temperature can range from a low fever at 99 degrees F, to a much higher fever in severe cases.

    Fatigue

    • Fatigue can be experienced due to the body over working to fight off the illness. You may feel weak and lazy.

    Dizziness

    • Dizziness can occur, causing you to become nauseated, which can result in vomiting. If you experience vomiting, seek medical help--your condition may be severe.

    Itching

    • Within a few days of getting sun poisoning, your skin may begin to itch. Peeling of the skin later can also cause itching.
