What is the deltoid used for?
Each part of the deltoid muscle has its specific action and function:
* Anterior Deltoid: It flexes the shoulder joint and is involved in overhead arm movements.
* Lateral Deltoid: It abducts the shoulder joint and helps to stabilize the shoulder. This portion gives the shoulder its rounded shape.
* Posterior Deltoid: It extends the shoulder joint and assists with external rotation.
The deltoids are used in many everyday activities, such as lifting objects, reaching overhead, and pushing and pulling. They are also important for sports and other physical activities that require arm movement.
