What Is Topicort LP?

Topicort LP (desoximetasone) refers to a topical corticosteroid used to relieve itching, swelling, redness or discomfort associated with a variety of skin conditions. Topicort LP is only available by prescription.

  1. Proper Use

    • After washing your hands with soap and water, spread a thin layer of Topicort LP on the affected area and carefully rub it in to the skin. Only apply a bandage or dressing if your doctor has instructed you to do so. Wash your hands again after using the ointment.

    Side Effects

    • Topicort LP may cause burning, dryness, pimples, unwanted hair growth or red bumps around the mouth. Call your doctor if you experience a severe rash or oozing pus, unusually warm skin or other signs of an infection.

    Warning

    • Do not get Topicort LP in your eyes or mouth. Supervise children after an application of Topicort LP to ensure they do not rub the ointment in their eyes or mouth. Always wash hands thoroughly before and after using Topicort LP. Seek medical attention if you accidentally use too much Topicort LP.
