How to Identify a Prescription Pill by Number
Every pill contains an imprint. The imprint may be a combination of number and letters, or a drug manufacturer's logo. Imprints required by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. Doctors, pharmacists and consumers use the imprint to identify the pills.Instructions

Go to the Drugs.com website and click "Pill Identifier." This link is located on the blue information bar at the top of your page.

Click "I Agree" to proceed.

Enter the numbers and letters from your pill into the "Imprint" field. If you choose, you can enter the color and shape by using the corresponding drop-down fields. Click "Search" to continue.

View the details of the pill. The website lists the name, strength, color, shape and drug class. To view further details on the pill click "View Drug Details."
