According to RXList, tramadol hydrochloride's most-reported adverse effects appear within the central nervous system and the gastrointestinal system. These results were usually reported within seven days of treatment although adverse effects were also reported within 30 and 90 days as well.

Some people taking tramadol hydrochloride reported nausea, diarrhea, vomiting, dry mouth, dyspepsia (upset stomach) and constipation. At seven days into treatment, 24 percent experienced nausea, 24 percent experienced constipation, 9 percent experienced vomiting, 5 percent experienced dyspepsia, 5 percent experienced dry mouth and 5 percent experienced diarrhea.
