How to Use Vigamox While Taking Prednisone
According to both RxList and WebMD, Vigamox does not have any clinically proven interactions with any medication, let alone Prednisone. Vigamox is an antibiotic used to treat eye infections. It is dispensed as an ophthalmic solution and applied to the infected eye using a dropper. Prednisone is dispensed as a 5mg to 60mg tablet and taken orally. Prednisone is a glucocorticoid steroid used in the treatment of a variety of disease, including diseases of the eye. If both drugs are taken as prescribed by your doctor, there should be no adverse reaction.Things You'll Need

Wash your hands thoroughly before applying the Vigamox to avoid spreading further infection to your eye.

Uncap the Vigamox and hold it in your dominant hand.

Tilt your head back and pull down the lower eyelid of the infected eye with the other hand to form a pouch. If you do not feel comfortable doing this standing, you can lay down on a flat surface.

Squeeze the prescribed number of drops into the eye. Look up and away from the dropper to keep from flinching.

Close the eye gently and keep it shut for a few seconds to allow the medicine to absorb. Press your finger near the inner corner of your eye to keep the solution from running out.

Take the Prednisone as prescribed by your doctor. Take Prednisone with food to prevent stomach upset. Also take it with at least eight ounces of water unless otherwise instructed by your doctor.

Complete the full course of medication. Do not stop taking either Vigamox or Prednisone without consulting your doctor first. Ceasation of medication without completing the prescribed amount may cause a return of the infection.

Contact your doctor if you experience any unexpected side effects. Normal side effects of Vigamox include itching and burning of the eye. Prednisone may cause weakness, fluid retention, hypertension and ulcers.
