Known by the trade name Cipro, ciproflaxin is a mainstay in the treatment of bacterial infections. It's part of the class of drugs known as fluoroquinolones, or synthetic broad-spectrum antibiotics.     • Ciproflaxin has mostly mild to moderate side effects. The most common, seen in less than 3 percent of patients, are nausea, abnormal liver function tests, diarrhea, vomiting and rash.
