What Is the Maximum Seroquel Dose?
Seroquel is used as a drug to treat depression, bi-polar disorder and schizophrenia. It is prescribed for patients over the age of 10. It is not for use in older patients suffering from dementia because of serious health risks.-
Dosages of Seroquel

Your doctor will start your treatment for depression by prescribing a 50 mg dose once a day at bedtime and increase your dosage to 400 mg by the fourth day.
For bi-polar disorder, your doctor will start you with 100 mg per day divided into two doses. This dosage is increased until your reach 400 mg per day divided into two doses.
Depression treatment starts with 25 mg twice a day and is increased to 300 to 400 mg per day divided into two doses.
Maximum Dose of Seroquel

The maximum dosage of Seroquel for the treatment of depression is 600 mg. For the treatment of bi-polar disorder and schizophrenia, the maximum dosage is 800 mg.
Possible Side Effects of Seroquel

Side effects may include dry mouth, nausea, dizziness or drowsiness, headache, anxiety and agitation. Serious side effects may include an increase of depression, suicidal thoughts in patients under the age of 24, sudden headache, fever, muscle stiffness, confusion, an increase in thirst and a decrease in urine output.
Risks Associated With the Elderly

Elderly patients who have dementia symptoms should not take Seroquel. There is a risk of heart failure, pneumonia and sudden death for these patients.
Symptoms of an Overdose

You should contact your doctor immediately if you experience any of these symptoms as they may be a sign of an overdose of Seroquel: extreme drowsiness, rapid heart beat, feeling faint or a tingling in your lips, hands or feet.
