Seroquel is the brand name of an anti-psychotic drug used to treat schizophrenia and bipolar disorder. Its generic name is quetiapine, and it is manufactured by Astra Zeneca. Seroquel works by affecting the chemicals in the brain.
  1. Frequency

    • Seroquel is taken once a day, on an empty stomach or with food. Take Seroquel exactly as prescribed by your doctor.

    Dosage

    • Seroquel doses are: 25 mg, which comes as a round peach-colored tablet; 100 mg in a round yellow tablet; 200 mg in a round white tablet; and 300 mg in a white elongated tablet with a film coating.

    Risks

    • There is a possibility of heart failure, pneumonia and sudden death in elderly patients who suffer from dementia. Diabetics should monitor their blood sugar levels regularly when on Seroquel.

    Side Effects

    • Dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth, nausea, vomiting, blurred vision, headache, anxiety and weight gain are possible side effects of Seroquel.

    Overdose

    • Convulsions, decreased urine production, increased thirst, low blood pressure, mood changes, numbness or tingling in your hands, feet or lips may indicate an overdose of Seroquel and require immediate medical help.
