Take one of your pills and examine it for its distinguishing characteristics: shape, color and imprint. The imprint is the letters and/or numbers printed on your pill.

Direct your Internet browser to a pill identification site. Two examples are listed in the resources below.

Enter the information about your pill's color, shape and imprint. Click on "search." The database will give you information on the type of drug, dosage and common uses.

Compare the results with your doctor's prescription. If there is any discrepancy, call your doctor and pharmacist before taking the medication.
