Ciloxan Directions
Ciloxan, known generically as ciprofloxacin ophthalmic, is a fluoroquinolone antibiotic eye medication used to treat bacterial eye infections. It works by eradicating the bacteria, thus getting rid of the the infection. Ciloxan is available in both solution and ointment form. It is generally taken for a minimum of seven days. Different doctors often prescribe longer courses or different dosages. Ciloxan is sometimes used to treat corneal ulcers.Things You'll Need

Wash your hands with warm water and antibacterial soap for at least 30 seconds. Scrub from the nails up to the wrists and dry your hands with a clean towel.

Tilt your head back slightly and pull the skin below your eye outward. Use the eyedropper to place one drop of the solution into the bottom part of the eye.

Close your eyes and lower your head, so that your chin almost touches your chest. Stay in this position for a minimum of two minutes.

Repeat this process with the other eye.

Repeat the above steps every two hours -- while you're awake -- for the first two days. On days three to seven, repeat the process every four hours, while awake.
Ointment

Scrub your hands with warm water and antibacterial soap for at least 30 seconds, starting at the nails and ending at the wrists. Dry your hands with a clean towel.

Tilt your head back and use the index finger of one hand to pull the skin beneath the eye downward. Grasp the ointment tube with the thumb and index finger of your other hand. Slowly squeeze a 1/2 inch strip of ointment into the bottom of the eye.

Blink the eye slowly two to three times to spread the ointment across the surface of the eye.

Close your eyes for at least two minutes, so the ointment can properly penetrate the bacteria.

Apply the ointment to your eye three times a day, spaced evenly apart. Apply the ointment at approximately the same times each day.
