Toenails and Fungus Oils

Toenail fungus is a common condition that can be treated with ease. The toenails are very susceptible to fungus infections, and the condition does not have to be a source of embarrassment.
  1. Features

    • The medical term for toenail fungus is onychomycosis. The onychomycosis organism thrives in damp, warm environments, which is why it manifests itself in the toenails.

    Identification

    • Toenails that are affected by the fungus will come to look discolored. Over time, the toenails will either thicken or become very brittle.

    Oils

    • Oils that contain carvacrol are known to help fight against fungus. Oil of oregano contains carvacrol, which has antimicrobial properties that can kill fungus infections.

    Time Frame

    • Fighting toenail fungus with natural oils can be a timely process. It can take up to four months for results when using remedies such as oil of oregano.

    Considerations

    • Oils that fight toenail fungus can either be taken in pill form or applied topically. Both ways typically have the same results and take the same amount of time to take effect.
