1
Determine whether you have any of the symptoms of vertigo. The most serious symptoms include a sensation that either you or the room are spinning, trouble balancing yourself while standing, and a general feeling of nausea as a direct result of the other symptoms.

2
Purchase a home ear infection test from a pharmacy. Having an ear infection can result in many of the same symptoms as vertigo. If your test comes up positive, your symptoms are a result of your ear infection. However, if your test comes up negative, you probably have vertigo.

3
Purchase a home hearing test from a pharmacy. General hearing problems can result in similar symptoms to vertigo, so it is important to rule out all possibilities before diagnosing yourself.
-
4
See a physician. Though you can become relatively sure you have vertigo, it is never a good idea to diagnose yourself. Vertigo is a serious condition that must be treated properly, so see a physician who will perform a number of definitive tests.
