What is mild bicipital tenosynovitis?
Mild bicipital tenosynovitis is a condition characterized by inflammation of the tendon sheath that surrounds the biceps tendon, causing pain and discomfort in the front of the shoulder and upper arm. Common causes include repetitive overhead activities, trauma to the shoulder, and certain underlying conditions like diabetes. Symptoms may include pain when reaching overhead, clicking or catching sensation in the shoulder, and tenderness around the biceps tendon. Mild cases can often be managed with conservative treatments like rest, ice, and anti-inflammatory medications. Physical therapy may also be recommended to strengthen the shoulder and improve flexibility. In severe cases, surgery may be necessary to repair damaged tissue or remove inflamed tissue.
