How to Take Nystatin

Nystatin is an anti-fungal drug used to treat infections of the intestines and stomach. The drug works by weakening the fungus' cell membrane, causing the contents to leak and ultimately killing the cell. Nystatin is available only through a doctor's prescription.

  Take Nystatin with a full glass of water.

  Take Nystatin at the same time every day. Your doctor prescribes a cycle of pills. Taking the correct dose at the same time every day keeps a balanced level of the drug in the body.

  If you forget a pill, take it as soon as you remember, But DON'T double the dosage if you accidentally skip a day. Instead, take the next dose and continue the cycle.

  Take the full cycle of Nystatin. Stopping in the middle of an anti-fungal cycle can lead to resistance and possible future infections. Always take the full dose until the prescription runs out.
