What are the symptoms of canker sores?
Canker sores usually appear as small, round, or oval sores inside your mouth. They are typically white, yellow, or gray, with a red border. Canker sores can occur anywhere in the mouth, but they are most common on the inside of the lips and cheeks, on the tongue, and at the base of the gums.
Other symptoms of canker sores may include:
* Pain: Canker sores can be painful, especially when they are first developing or when they are touched or irritated.
* Bleeding: Canker sores can bleed if they are accidentally bitten or scratched.
* Difficulty eating or talking: Canker sores can make it difficult to eat or talk, especially if they are located on the tongue or at the base of the gums.
* Fever: A low-grade fever may occur in some people with canker sores.
* Swollen lymph nodes: The lymph nodes near the mouth may swell in some people with canker sores.
If you have any of these symptoms, you should see a doctor to get a diagnosis and treatment.
