See your medical doctor. Rashes can be caused by many conditions. Your doctor will need to make a diagnosis before he can begin treatment of your facial rash. Make sure you give your doctor a detailed history of new foods that you may have eaten, or any chemicals or detergents that you may have come in contact with. Your doctor will need to rule out reasons for the rash, such as allergic reactions.

Ask about antibiotics or antiviral medication. Certain rashes on the face can be caused by infections. Shingles is a viral infection that can cause a blister-like rash on the face and eye area. If you have shingles, your doctor may prescribe an anti viral medication. Other rashes can be caused by bacterial infections, in which antibiotics would be an appropriate treatment.

Try topical hydrocortisone creams. Topical hydrocortisone creams can decrease inflammation and redness of your rash. These creams are effective in healing facial rashes, and if your rash is accompanied by itching, topical hydrocortisone will help relieve it. Check with your doctor before using this medication. Be careful not to get it in your eyes.

Inquire about oral steroid medication. Many times a rash on your face will respond to oral steroid medications. Ask your doctor if oral steroids are right for you. They are very effective in treating rashes, however, they are not without side effects. If your rash is resistant to other treatments, oral steroids may be right for you.

Apply ice. Ice can help decrease the redness and inflammation of a rash. It may also sooth pain or irritation that can accompany a facial rash. Apply ice to your rash every three hours for about 20 minutes. Always use an ice bag and never apply ice directly to your skin.

Do not scratch. Scratching your rash may hinder the healing process. You will get rid of your facial rash faster if you refrain from scratching it, and by keeping your hands away from your face.
