How to Remove Ringworm
Ringworm is not actually a worm as the name suggests, but a fungal infection that leaves a ring-shaped rash on the skin, scalp or nail. The infection can affect all age groups and is contagious. It often spreads from skin-to-skin contact, but also can be spread by contact with contaminated surfaces or even infected animals. Typical symptoms of ringworm, include raised and itchy, pimple-like patches on the skin that later form a ring. Infected nails can become yellow, crumble and bleed, while infections on the scalp will leave bald patches. If you have any of these symptoms, check with a doctor to make sure that it is ringworm and not any other infection. Infections of the scalp and nails will require doctor prescription of antifungals; however, ringworm on the skin is usually treated successfully by a home regimen.Things You'll Need
- Over-the-counter antifungal medication (i.e., Tinactin, Lamisil)
