How to Get Rid of White Depigmentation on the Face
Vitiligo is a medical condition in which the skin loses pigment, also known as depigmentation, causing white spots to appear on the face. This pigmentation reduction is the result of a hereditary immune disorder or the triggering of an environmental factor, such as overexposure to direct sunlight or stress. Treatment to rid or stop the progression of depigmentation involves using concealing cosmetics, suntan lotions, and prescribed topical creams and ointments.Things You'll Need
- Concealing cosmetics
- Sunless tanners
- 30 SPF suntan lotion
- B12 vitamins
- Topical corticosteroid cream
- Topical immunomodulator ointment

1
Use over-the-counter concealing cosmetics or sunless tanning products to reduce the appearance of white patches and add color to depigmented areas.
-
2
Wear suntan lotion on a regular basis to minimize tanning, making the line between normal and depigmented skin less noticeable. Purchase lotion with an SPF of at least 30 to protect against both UVA (long wave) and UVB (short wave) light. Apply the lotion as indicated on the product's label.

3
Increase vitamin B12 intake to boost the nutrients that promote strong skin health. Eat foods that are high in iron and reduce shellfish intake as a dietary means of eliminating white spots on the skin.

4
Use topical corticosteroid cream to get rid of white spots and return normal color back to the skin. Side effects include skin atrophy and stretch marks. Apply topical immunomodulator ointments containing tacrolimus or pimecrolimus to eliminate white depigmentation on the face. This alternative treatment has fewer side effects than corticosteroids. Both medications are prescribed by a primary care physician or dermatologist.
