Home Remedies for Rashes With Skin Burning

Skin irritations and rashes are uncomfortable and even painful. Allergic reactions and sunburn are among the causes of burning rashes. No matter the reason, getting relief from the rash is paramount. A number of home remedies and treatments are available to help you feel more comfortable while the rash heals.
  1. Compresses

    • Use cold compresses on burning rashes. There are a variety of methods to cool down the skin with compresses. Buy a commercial compress or make your own with ice cubes and a plastic bag. Use a bag of frozen vegetables as a compress if that is all that you have on hand. Hold it on the rash for 15 minute intervals throughout the day. Use it for as many days as is necessary.

    Aloe Vera

    • Aloe vera gel has healing and soothing properties. A gentle home remedy for rashes is to apply the gel directly from the aloe vera plant. Break open one of the stems to access the healing gel inside. Apply to rashes for relief from burning. It is possible to purchase aloe vera gel from a pharmacy or grocery store if you do not have access to the plant.

    Oatmeal Bath

    • Soak your burning rash in an oatmeal bath. This home remedy soothes itching and burning. To make the oatmeal bath, fill the bathtub with warm water. Pour in 1 cup of uncooked oatmeal into the water. Submerge your body in the bath and soak for as long as desired. Do this every other day until the rash subsides.

    Olive Oil

    • Apply olive oil to rashes to relieve skin burning and heal rashes. It penetrates the skin and moisturizes effectively. Use it daily until the rash has healed. Moisten sterile cloths or cotton balls with olive oil and dab it gently onto the rash areas. To protect the rash from irritation, cover it with a large bandage.
