How to Identify a Ringworm Skin Rash
Ringworm is a fungus that usually puffs the skin up, turns light red and forms a ring. It is an uncomfortable and annoying skin condition caused by bacteria, called dermatophytes. These dermatophytes love moist and damp regions of the skin and cause ringworm rash in similar areas on the body. These bacteria crowd moist areas and enter the body through a break or tear in the skin. There are many forms of ringworm that can be found on your scalp, groin, underarms or feet.Instructions

1
Expose the region where you suspect the ringworm. Getting an unobstructed view of the fungus gives you the best chance at identifying it.
-
2
Look for reddish raised circles in the affected area. Ringworm is very itchy, and makes the skin looked puffy. The rash darkens if you scratch it.

3
Observe the rash, and look closely at the skin in the middle of the rash. The center will look like healthy skin --- or at least a normal skin tone. If the rash in question looks reddish, ring-shaped and puffy, it is ringworm and should be treated immediately.
