What happens to the pressure and volume inside thoracic cavity when you pull rubber diaphragm down lung model?

Pressure decrease, volume increases

As the external intercostal muscles contracts pulling rubber diaphragm(diaphragm muscle and internal intercostal muscles relax), volume increases which causes alveolar pressure within alveoli and thoracic cavity to drops below atmospheric pressure, and air flows into lungs (inhalation).
