What do lungs look like with pneumonia?
When someone has pneumonia, their lungs can appear inflamed and congested. The air sacs in the lungs (alveoli) may be filled with fluid or pus, making it difficult to breathe. The lungs may also be red and swollen, and there may be areas of consolidation (where the lung tissue becomes hard and solid). In severe cases, pneumonia can lead to the formation of abscesses (pockets of pus) in the lungs.Respiratory Disorders - Related Articles
