Setting the Pressure on the CPAP Respironics Remstarplus M Series

As a patient, you have some options for changing the settings on your CPAP Respironics Remstar Plus M Series machine. You can adjust the machine for use at higher or lower elevations, turn on or off your mask alert screen and turn on or off your airflow auto screen. You are able to change the pressures of the RAMP feature and the C-Flex Comfort Feature, but only if these options are enabled by your respiratory care provider. You are not able to set the initial pressure on the machine, this setting is established by your respiratory therapy provider based upon the specific prescription of your physician. If you feel that your CPAP pressures require adjustment, contact your doctor or your respiratory therapist.

Instructions

    • 1

Press the Power Button (a circle with a half-vertical line). The active display screen will appear, showing the pressure set by your respiratory therapist, such as 15.0 cm H20 (15 centimeters of water pressure).

    • 2

Press the Ramp Button (a triangle), to the immediate left of the power button. This feature reduces air pressure as you are falling asleep and then gradually increases the pressure to the preset limit, hence the term "ramp." It will appear in your active display screen if modification is enabled by your therapist.

    • 3

Press the C-Flex button (labelled C-Flex), to the immediate right of the power button. This feature adjusts the amount of air pressure relief you experience during exhalation. The active screen will change to show the word C-Flex with the numbers "1 2 3" below. Press the plus (+) or minus (-) buttons to adjust the pressure. If this feature has been disabled by your therapist, a message will appear informing you of this.
