What kind of test do respiratory therapist take?
National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) exams
There are two types of NBRC exams:
* Entry-level exam-This exam is for respiratory therapists who have recently graduated from an accredited respiratory therapy program. The entry-level exam covers basic knowledge and skills in respiratory care, such as airway management, oxygen therapy, and nebulizer therapy.
* Advanced-level exam-This exam is for respiratory therapists who have several years of experience and/or have completed additional training in a specialized area. The advanced-level exam covers more advanced knowledge and skills in respiratory care, such as mechanical ventilation, pulmonary rehabilitation, and critical care.
In addition to NBRC exams, some states also require respiratory therapists to pass a state licensing exam. State licensing exams typically cover similar content as NBRC exams, but they may also include state-specific laws and regulations.
