Could you give two differences between the air going into lungs and coming out of lungs?
1. Oxygen Content: The air going into the lungs is rich in oxygen (O2), while the air coming out of the lungs is depleted in oxygen and contains higher levels of carbon dioxide (CO2). This exchange of gases occurs in the alveoli of the lungs where oxygen from the inhaled air diffuses into the bloodstream, and carbon dioxide moves from the bloodstream into the exhaled air.
2. Temperature and Humidity: The air going into the lungs is usually cooler and drier compared to the air coming out of the lungs. As the inhaled air travels through the respiratory tract, it gets warmed and humidified. The lining of the respiratory tract releases moisture and heat, which raises the temperature and humidity of the inhaled air, making it more suitable for gas exchange in the lungs.
