How to Take Care of Your Throat
Your throat is sensitive and requires care to reduce infections, soreness and other respiratory disorders. The throat is the gatekeeper that protects your body from harmful germs, and is easily irritated when it is strained by frequent clearing during a cold, flu or sinus infection. While at-home care is possible to keep your throat healthy, chronic or severe pain requires immediate medical treatment by a qualified health professional.Things You'll Need

1
Avoid yelling or shouting. You temporarily damage vocal cords by shouting. If you need to speak up in a loud environment, massage your vocal cords by humming to create a steady vibration in your throat.
-
2
Drink two to three cups of caffeine-free hot tea daily. Hot tea with 1 tsp. of honey soothes the throat and loosens mucus that collects on your vocal cords when you are sick. Sip the tea slowly to avoid burning your throat. Broth and warm water with 1 tsp. of honey are also suitable at-home treatments for soothing your throat.

3
Drink water throughout the day. Water acts as a lubricant to keep your throat moisturized, which prevents dryness and a scratchy feeling in the back of your throat. If you are unable to drink water, suck on a lozenge, which increases saliva production and soothes the throat.

4
Rest your voice. Sleep or simply not talking allows your throat to rest, which allows it to recover from strain. Use a cool-mist humidifier in your bedroom while sleeping to improve the air's moisture level and lubricate your throat.
