Why do ankles crack when you walk?
As you walk, the weight of your body is distributed across your feet and ankles. This pressure causes the synovial fluid in your ankles to compress and release, creating a vacuum that allows bubbles to form. When the bubbles collapse, they emit a popping or cracking sound.
Cavitation is a normal occurrence and is not typically a cause for concern. However, excessive or painful cracking or clicking in your ankles could indicate an underlying problem, such as an ankle sprain or arthritis. If you are experiencing ankle pain or discomfort, it is important to see a doctor for evaluation.
