Requip XL is a medication used to treat Parkinson's Disease and restless leg syndrome (RLS). Requip comes in 2 mg, 4 mg, 6 mg, 10 mg and 12 mg tablets. Each pill has a different color to help differentiate the strength. Pills and tablets often need to be split to achieve the proper dose. Additionally, prescriptions are often cheaper to fill by ordering a strength higher than what you need and splitting the pills.

  Take one of the Requip XL tablets with you to a nearby drugstore or pharmacy, and look at the available pill splitters. Find one that is the proper width to handle the Requip pill. A pharmacy employee can help you find the proper splitter if you need help.

  Place the pill into the splitter, and close the lid to split the pill. Pill splitters have a very sharp blade in the top and when you close the lid, the blade slices the pill in half. The pill is held in place when you insert the pill into the splitter.

  Continue to split the pills until you have the number you desire. You can split the entire bottle at one time or split each pill as you need to take a dose.
